“Reward and prosper the cause of the righteousness,
for you are the righteous God, the soul searcher,
who looks deep into every heart
to examine the thoughts and motives.”
I’m amazed at how many folks fight against reward and prosperity. I shouldn’t be surprised, because I fought against it myself for so long. Thing is, I was motivated more by envy than devotion or holiness to some righteous cause. Prosperity is so much more than money, we know that, be let’s not give a religious sheen to our conversation. God wants to bless us on every level.
As a man or woman, we want to provide for our family – emotionally, spiritually, financially, socially. Is God not a good Father? How much more does he desire to see His children abundantly furnished for every challenge they may face?
God prosper us! God enrich us! Papa, help us become the person we are meant to be!
Here’s the thing, and this is where confusion knocks on the door – as soon as we start pursuing more; more money, more influence, more revelation, more of pretty much anything – the motives behind our pursuit can be called into question. In those moments of introspection, who will you listen to on the inside? Will it be Papa, who adds every good thing, making us rich and adding no sorrow? Or will it be the duplicitous demons who undermine our every move by questioning any desire to better ourselves or others, convincing us it is selfish and wrong to do so?
I am actually a less man. A minimalist. I am not advocating chasing more to satisfy an endless pit of consumerism. The more I seek is more of Him! Seek FIRST my Kingdom he said, and all these things will be added. It is the Kingdom we want more of! That will mean less of us, less running after vacuous titles and accolades, less seeking satisfaction for our dry spirit stuffing our flesh with hollow promises of gratification.
Less of what does not feed the real need on the inside.
And as we shed the outer pursuits of the flesh, and our spirit finds its home, Papa is freed to lavish upon us all that He desires, knowing that we will not be enticed to trust in them for our joy and security.
The struggle is real because there are two gods in this world – you will serve one and hate the other. There is no middle road, no pacifying compromise that frees you from the struggle.
That is why we pray to the Soul Searcher. He alone knows the motive behind the motion. He knows not just what we do, but WHY we do it.
In His presence, the light of His word searches our hearts.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
Humbly come before Him, asking for his searching presence to sift your heart of every damaged and damaging reason. Let his will undergird your efforts and decisions. And when he does, step boldly forward, or doubting.
Banish false humility, which at the end of the day is perverted pride.
Humility accepts the goodness of God’s hand just as much as His chastisement. It sometimes takes more humility to prosper and receive reward than it does to continue as a victim. God, I thoroughly believe, wants to raise up his children, to fight His cause in their lives. His cause is not to crush you, or keep you poor and helpless, but to raise you up, strengthen you, causing you to conquer in every area of life.
“Papa, I know that you know me better than I know myself. I refuse confusion that will undermine or sabotage your plans, pushing me away from your blessing. I want your blessing, father, like daddy Abraham. I want to know your gracious hand on my life and enjoy the prosperity you have purposed. The abundant life, free from the stealer. But let my heart be tender in your hand. Let the light of your word always find entrance, and not resistance in my life. I want the intents of my heart to be pure, and the prosperity you promise to be lavished upon me with no sorrow added. Never let pursuit of other things usurp your place in my affections, and keep me on the pathway of right living. Let love motivate my actions, and permeate my deepest desires. Let your love be my motivator, so I can be blessed, and be a blessing.”
“Child, “Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” (Psalms 35:27) – never back off your belief that I am good in every way. Money comes and money goes, but my blessing remains. Like Paul be ready to know abasement and abundance, and be moved by neither. Don’t trust in uncertain riches, but don’t fear them. My hand is the hand of blessing, seeking your best in every aspect. I love to see my servant prosper, and what I see in secret I reward openly. I am a Rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek me, and in the seeking your heart will be sifted. Trust the process and my hand of blessing will be opened wide.”
