“Though we are overcome by our many sins,
your sacrifice covers them all.
And your priestly lovers, those you’ve chosen,
will be greatly favored to be brought close to you.
What inexpressible joys are theirs!
What feasts of mercy fill them in your Heavenly sanctuary!
How satisfied we will be just to be near you!”
Psalm 65: 3-5, Passion
Thank God our choosing is not based on our own merits. Thank God that undeserved entrance is given by our God to His sanctuary.
I love the truth of God’s heavenly sanctuary. Hebrews describes it as a real place, reserved for his Holy people to come close and worship the Father. Papa’s instructions to Moses, when the plans for the Tabernacle in the wilderness were revealed, stressed the importance of building according to the pattern.
Why? Because these things served as a “copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”” (Hebrews 8:5 NKJV)
Jesus Christ, our High Priest, opened the door to a greater and more enduring tabernacle:
“But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.” (Hebrews 9:11 NKJV)
Taking such realities seriously and accepting our invitation, our choosing, is part of the great adventure of faith. Many stay outside the doors in the outer courts of duty and sin-consciousness. The religious mindset, as humble as it sounds, stays in the gruesome truth that we are indeed overcome by our sins; that we are undeserving worms, utterly devoid of power to change or stand in the presence of a Holy God.
But by faith we don’t stay there. If our choosing is not our choice.
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” (John 15:16 NKJV)
Papa chose you.
He hand-picked you for Himself.
To bring you in, shower favor upon you, and feast with you in the secret place.
And inside the sanctuary?
“There I will meet with you and, from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the Testimony, I will speak intimately with you…” (Exodus 25:22 AMP)
God is waiting, with His feast of favor ready for his lovers. In the presence of angels He will speak intimately with you.
Will you R.S.V.P. to the invite?
Conversational, close heart-to-heart prayer is your privilege.
“Papa, as lofty as these truths are, you have made them so simple. No ladders to climb, no accolades to accumulate. The only qualification required is to recognize that your sacrifice covers anything that would disqualify. How fabulous your favor feels when we quit trying to earn it! Simple, open-handed, open-hearted acceptance of your indescribable goodness is the simple key to your presence.”
“Child, come on inside. I have prepared a place just for you. No one else can take but you. Come rest in my favor and find refreshment for your soul.”
