Mark Dawson's Self Publishing 101 Review and Alternatives
Mark Dawson's Self Publishing 101 corse is a video based training aimed squarely at beginner and intermediate self publishers. The course has some great strengths, and tens of hours of useful, relevant information that can be applied in any self publishing business. The course is not ideal for everyone though, and at close to $500 investment, both the money and time investment required to get the most from the course should be carefully taken into consideration.
In the video below, I share some of my thoughts, as well as take you inside the Self Publishing 101 member's area so you can take a look and evaluate for yourself if this is the kind of course for you or not.
I have spoken with numerous people who have purchased the course. Many sing it's praises, and none have given negative feedback, but a surprising of number of previous buyers have not even begun watching the material because the time investment to do so is so significant (some videos are over one hour long!). Something to bear in mind, especially if you are prone to purchase the latest popular shiny object that everyone is promoting.
Having said this, there is no doubt that the course is a worthy investment for anyone in the self-publishing business, especially if you are relatively new to the arena, or consider yourself of intermediate experience and want some keys to lift it to the next level. Even experienced indie authors and self publishers will glean some gems from the hours of insights Mark shares.
In the video, I also share an alternative that is lower priced but just as valuable if making money through self-publishing is your desire, but maybe you don't have $500 to invest right now. Kindling by Geoff Shaw is one of my best ever investments as a publisher, and a recommendation that I unreservedly give to anyone I speak with about this amazing opportunity we have been given!
Hope the video has helped you see more clearly what to expect, and whether it's a good fit. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, just shoot me an email to support@spiritlifepublishing.com and I will do my best to answer. 🙂
